THE REWARDS OF DISCIPLINE
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:11, NIV
Many people are okay with mediocrity and compromise, but that’s not who you are. You have seeds of greatness inside. You are destined to leave your mark. You weren’t created to just get by, to live with addictions, dysfunction, lack, and struggle. You were created to stand out, to excel.
Now do your part and distinguish yourself. Be willing to do what others won’t do. Yes, it takes effort. You have to say no to your carnal desires. You have to be disciplined. But the pain of discipline is less than the pain of regret. It’s hard to bite your tongue and not say what you feel, but that pain of being disciplined is less than the pain of having someone you love walk away. It takes discipline to lay off the junk food, but that’s easier than the pain of not being healthy.
It’s hard to break away from a friend or stop watching what you know is not good for you, but that pain is less than not reaching your dreams. Don’t miss your destiny because you didn’t want it badly enough.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that You have given me seeds of greatness and destined me to leave my mark. Thank You that whether I feel like it or not, I have the power to overcome and be disciplined to do the right thing. I believe that a harvest of righteousness is coming as I stay true to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen."
